Christian, labeled The Alpha Prep, is a contestant on Total Drama Lakeside. He was originally placed on the Killer Wildcats, but switched to the Artisanal Cheeses in the fifth chapter.

Biography[]

Christian lives on the east coast, goes to a giant university, and is the president-elect of his fraternity. He grew up surrounded by money, as his father is a successful businessman who comes from old money and his friends are all similarly wealthy. In high school he initially went out for the football team, but was told he didn't have enough "body mass," so he decided to join the lacrosse team instead. This turned out to be a big hit with his peers, and he eventually became the captain of the team, gaining all the popularity that came with that label as well. Countless universities offered him athletic scholarships, so he never actually had to put effort into a college application. Christian has only gotten lazier since then; he's never worked a job and spends most of his time hanging out with his fraternity brothers, throwing parties, hooking up with girls, making freestyle rap videos, juuling, and sailing his dad's yacht. Although his grades are garbage, he's a firm believer in the "Cs get degrees" philosophy, and believes his wealth and natural charm will help him succeed in the real world.

Christian was recruited for Total Drama when the producers realized they needed more "eye candy." He's ready to take the girls under his wing, assert his dominance over the other guys, and sail to the end.

Audition Tape[]

Note: As stated above, Christian did not audition for the show; he was instead recruited by casting agent Mildred O'Halloran at a grocery store. Below is a written recreation of that encounter.

A red-eyed, weary-looking Christian trudges through a grocery store, cradling about 15 Milky Way bars in his hands. He reaches the checkout counters and gets into line. A few seconds later, a blonde woman approaches him from behind.

"Hello there!" she says. Christian doesn't turn around and keeps staring blankly into space. "Sir?" she continues, before tapping his shoulder.

"Whuh?" he says, turning around. "Ohhh shit. Hello there to you too."

She laughs. "Cool it, kid. I'm old enough to be your mom."

"Wait, for real? Shit, I mean, that's not a deal-breaker for m—"

"Listen up," she says forcefully. "I do recruiting for a little show called Total Drama. Ever heard of it?"

"Maybe. I dunno. Are there any girls on it?"

"Oh, believe me, there are MANY girls on it."

"Aight, sick," he says. "I'm in."

"Wait, seriously? That's it? You don't even want to know what—"

"Did I stutter? I said I'm in. Listen, the C-Man needs to get back out there, so if you say girls, I'm tellin' you, I'm in. Anyway, gotta blast. Hey, don't be a stranger."

He blows a kiss at her before turning back around, walking past the cash register, and heading out of the store without paying for any of the Milky Ways. She stares in awe at the empty doorway, then whips out her phone and aggressively dials a certain number...

Trivia[]

  • This character has been in the works for a very long time—I originally created him to submit to others' stories that never got off the ground. Back then, he was more of a rich elitist, something like a male Layla.
  • Christian was given the same skin tone as Chelsey on purpose.
  • The pose Christian's making is a reference to the "You know I had to do it to em" meme.
  • He is the second contestant named Christian in the Toad-al Drama series, after Chrissy. I actually forgot about Chrissy's real name being Christian until midway through the story.
  • Christian's quote "See, I care about women as objects, not just as people, y’know?” was a reference to a scene from The Big Lebowski where The Dude says "Jackie Treehorn treats objects like women, man."
  • Christian was inspired by Manty and Northworth. Although they had lots of comedic potential, they both ended up as one-dimensional joke characters. But once I wrote Total Drama REVamped and loved writing for Northworth, I realized there was a lot of potential in this archetype and thus created Christian.
    • Unlike those two (as well as many of my other characters), Christian wasn't based on any specific person. He was more an amalgamation of many different people I've known over the years.
  • Needless to say, he was one of my favorite characters to write for in any of my stories. I had what seemed to be an infinite amount of material for him and loved coming up with progressively stranger situations to place him in.
  • Isabella's eventual rejection of Christian was to give Christian a love interest who was "out of his league," despite so many other women being interested in him.
  • Although on paper, he has a lot of similarities to my past villains, Christian was never intended to be a villain. Instead, he was a comic relief character who accidentally kick-started important, serious plots due to stupidity and/or horniness.
    • I also worried that giving him more sympathy toward the end wouldn't work because he was such a joke of a character, but ended up really satisfied with his arc.
  • Christian was always intended to get far to make up for Manty and Northworth's early boots. I had him in the finals with Kelsey for a while, then I toyed with a Christian vs. Frances finale, and for a minute I even questioned whether he should win. He's the type of character who could plausibly win a real Total Drama season, and I know other stories on here have experimented with similar winners, so it didn't seem too far-fetched. But 3rd place seemed fitting for him in the end, especially since Frances and Kelsey were each other's foils. He's the first male 3rd placer in my series.
