Let me guess: her enemies call her "Colonel" (Colonel GaDaVi) Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! A wandering minstrel, I-- 16:55, February 2, 2020 (UTC)

They did at first, but Vida didn't pick up on and wouldn't pick up on the reference or that it was an insult. Instead she would share facts about Colonel Sanders, like how he shot someone and the first KFC was in Utah. When someone finally explained it to her, her respone was, "Did you know that that 1980s sitcom Second Chance predicted Gaddfai's death in 2011, within three months of his actual death? Same cause of death too." The nickname didn't stick.

(I do know like the idea of In A Gadda Da Vida taking an identity of Colonel GaDaVi like Admiral Lindsay). "Maybe you haven’t seen the world, Elliot, but I have, and trust me, it’s garbage. People lie, and they hurt each other. And they were these things on their feet called Crocs." 20:29, February 2, 2020 (UTC)

That would certainly stop people calling her an unflattering nickname to her face, but it wouldn't necessarily stop them using it behind her back. In the latter case, though, people would probably use something more descriptive, like "GaDawful". But yeah, one of the most effective ways to disarm an insult is to treat it as a compliment. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! That's true, but when the person knows the nickname and you know it's backfired, it tends to lose it's sting. GaDawful is another great nickname, that I will probably steal for the actual story (with credit to you in the Trivia of course). "Maybe you haven’t seen the world, Elliot, but I have, and trust me, it’s garbage. People lie, and they hurt each other. And they were these things on their feet called Crocs." 03:42, February 6, 2020 (UTC)

Wordplay is one of my things. What can I say? Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! A wandering minstrel, I-- 04:46, February 6, 2020 (UTC)

Proposal for Vida's theme

Here's an idea for Vida's theme, which even fits the whole "Colonel" thing we've been discussing: the Major-General's song ("I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General") from The Pirates of Penzance, by Gilbert & Sullivan. Heehee, this maybe the perfect song for Vida. I don't want to give too much about her away but, a character who has a very 'impressive' knowledge on subjects but the thing they should? Yeah.

I know I've heard a lot of variations or parodies of this song, but the one I remember most is from Animaniacs (which checking reveals has a lot of Gilbert and Sullivan's parodies throughout this short). The title, H.M.S. Yakko of course turns out to be a reference to a Gilbert & Sullivan musical too. "Maybe you haven’t seen the world, Elliot, but I have, and trust me, it’s garbage. People lie, and they hurt each other. And they were these things on their feet called Crocs." 02:00, March 14, 2020 (UTC)
