So, this might be a surprise except not really because I quote lyrics all the time on chat, but I'm a huge Disney fan. And I was bored today and have time to kill so I decided: why not rank disney movies? It won't be super indepth or anything but there'll be write ups and stuff.

Still In The Ranking

  1.  The Jungle Book (1967)
  2. The Little Mermaid (1989) ··
  3. Beauty and the Beast (1991) ·
  4. Aladdin (1992) ·
  5. The Lion King (1994) ·
  6. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) ·
  7. Mulan (1998) ·
  8. Tangled (2010)
  9.   Wreck-It Ralph (2012) ·
  10. Frozen (2013)
  11.  Toy Story (1995) · ·
  12. Finding Nemo (2003) ·
  13. Toy Story 3 (2010) ··

I guess I'm not as good of a Disney fan as I thought I was because I've actually never seen Robin Hood, The Great Mouse Detective, or Treasure Planet, so they won't be ranked. A few other early movies have been left out as well.

#53[]

CHICKEN LITTLE[]

If you didn't know, Disney had a dark age. It was an age of flat characters, ehhh animation, and just badness. Some say this started right after the Renaissance, I'm a little kinder and say it started with Brother Bear and ended with Bolt. Of these movies, and of ALL Disney/PIxar movies, I find Chicken Little the most outright bad. None of the characters are likable, or have any real substance, it's just bad. The movie focuses around Chicken Little who is shunned by his whole town because he said the sky was falling once. Then, a bunch of contrived shit (pardon my french) happens to show Chicken as an underdog such as

-missing the bus

-running to school

-losing his pants

-running in front of cheerleaders with no pants

-once he gets to the gym he finds out they're playing dodgeball with the teams as popular vs non-popular (NO SCHOOL HAS EVER DONE THIS)

-accidentally pulling the fire alarm

How realistic. Then he joins the baseball team and wins a game, then he gets hit by a piece of the sky. If you were sitting in your chair thinking "wow, this movie sounds super realistic, it needs MORE ridiculous things" then you're in luck, because it turns out that the reason fo rthe sky falling is ALIENS.

ALIENS.

ALIENS!

Why.

...anyway, Chicken Little and his dad who is a TERRIBLE douche by the way save the town from the aliens. Yay. The end.

Can you see why I dislike this movie now? It's just...dumb. It makes 0 sense the whole way through. The protagonist is annoying, the dad is a douchebag, the love interest is...actually okay, but gets dull, the comic relief isn't funny, just...a mess. I'm really happy it's one of the Disney's red-headed stepchildren when it comes to their movies, because I couldn't deal with this being promoted.

#52[]

HOME ON THE RANGE[]

Mediocre 2000s movies slaughter!

I probably shouldn't have ranked Home on the Range, because I cannot remember a thing from this movie. I remember the three cows were annoying, the horse, Buck was a douche, and the whole thing was kind of boring. The weird thing is I watched this movie on repeat when I was like four and got my tonsils taken out and was sentenced to bed and ice cream, and have no recollection of it. Oh well, onwards and upwards

#51[]

FANTASIA[]

I liked Fantasia: it's a cool collection of music and animation, but...I dunno, I don't feel like it really COUNTS as a movie. When it comes down to it, there are definitely movies higher than Fantasia that I liked less, but I just feel like Fantasia's more of a clip show than a movie.

#50[]

CARS 2[]

Ah, yes, the sequel that should have never existed.

I never got the decision making process for this. Of all the amazing pixar movies, the second one to get a sequel is fucking Cars? I don't hate Cars (hence why it's still in), but it's one of the less spectacular Pixar movies.

I went into Cars 2 expecting something at least decent, because it's Pixar. What I got was a movie that barely focused on the main character and instead focused on Mater being a spy, which may be the most contrived disney plot EVER. (oh wait, Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time)

Anyway Cars 2 was about Lightning McQueen racing in this around the world tournament, but that barely gets any focus because SPIES!

I'll be frank: the spy plot wasn't THAT bad, but it was pretty bad. It was the epitome of disney sequels: someone from movie 1 does something with no relation to movie 1. And honestly, that's why I'll never be a fan of disney sequels: disney writers have no clue how to follow up on a movie.

#49[]

BOLT[]

If we're being completely honest...I didn't hate Bolt. I dunno, it wasn't good by any means, but despite annoying hamster sidecicks and annoying children voiced by Miley Cyrus, I felt it was trying to tell a story and was actually trying unlike, say, Chicken Little.

It's still kinda boring and not very good though so

#48[]

A BUG'S LIFE

I think I've seen A Bug's Life twice, and I barely remember it from either time. I think there were ants in it.

#47[]

DUMBO[]

Early Disney movies are weird and I think the best example of this is Dumbo and it's immediate successor Bambi. I can deal with weirdness usually but I cross the line when your main character who is a small child gets drunk and THIS happens

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wR8FL_2gwI

why

Anyway when it's not being disturbing Dumbo is boring as tar. I'll concede that the main character is adorable though

http://37.media.tumblr.com/bb8b1d07dfb06238e86bfb325e6119ca/tumblr_n3x1gi0dUZ1sr7kr2o1_500.gif

those ears <3

#46[]

THE SWORD IN THE STONE[]

This is the last movie where I'm like, "what the fuck is this". I do remember a few things from this unlike A Bug's Life/Home on the Range, including the villain, Mad Madame Mim <3

http://i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae117/oldmackdonald/mim.jpg?t=1269295858

Obviously the highlight of the movie. Other than her, we have Merlin, the world-weary wizard, and Archimedes, his baove-it-all owl. This could probably make it higher upon rewatxch but I don't have the energy and I remember the protagonist being a bore.

#45[]

MEET THE ROBINSONS[]

This is boring.

#44[]

CARS[]

Eh...

Pixar's movies are usually really good, but I never got into Cars. The main character is okay, but cliche. So is the comic relief. So is the love interest. Everything about Cars feels "hey, this was done better in another movie!" It's not bad, just not great.

#43[]

CINDERELLA[]

Pretty sure THIS is the cut I get lynched for, but I watched this recently and...it REALLY doesn't hold up. It's a good story, sure, but Cinderella is one of the most boring protagonists ever, and so is her love interest. I struggle to think of a character trait for either of them, and they really drag the movie down. I like the queen/evil stepsisters and the Fairy Godmother is alright, but this movie just never clicked with me.

also who the hell names their child "Charming"? I hope that's a last name or nickname because otherwise his parents were kind of douchebags.

#42[]

PINOCCHIO[]

I rewatched this recently, and....wow, it's super bizarre. Maybe even weirder than Dumbo, which is hard to accomplish. It's three acts are all strange, and kind of off-putting. Not to say I dislike it, though. Pinocchio is a good protagonist for all it's worth, and so is Gepetto. I do hate Jiminy Cricket, though. Does that make me a Disney hipster?

#41[]

THE ARISTOCATS[]

We own this movie on VHS so it will always hold a ~special place~ in my heart but it's kind of boring, lol. "Everybody Wants To Be A Cat" is a great song, but the antagonist is meh and the whole movie was kind of...sloppy. I can't blame it since it was in the Animation #39 period of Disney, but it just feels kind of cheap.

#40[]

TARZAN[]

Okay I HATE this word with a passion but Tarzan, imo, is the most OVERRATED Disney movie.

Like, people just have this random love for it that I never got. The characters aren't that interesting, the songs are all generic and boring, just...boring really. Tarzan as a movie, is boring.

Not to mention the fact that DISNEY HAS ALREADY MADE THIS MOVIE. They're not carbon copies but Tarzan shares a TON of similarities to The Jungle Book. Yeah, there are slight differences, but a movie about a man living with animals would probably be more effective if one hadn't been made 30 years prior.

Okay, because I don't want to seem like a complete douche, I like SOME things about Tarzan. I think the animation is nice. Jane is pretty good, and um...the gorillas were okay?

Eh, I just never got the hype with Tarzan. I can see why people like it, but I'd much rather watch The Jungle Book.

#39[]

MONSTERS UNIVERSITY[]

The very existence of this movie baffles me. Seriously, who thought "you know what would make Monsters,Inc better? putting them in COLLEGE!" I was very worried this movie would turn out bad, and it didn't! I don't really think it was amazing, there are definitely problems (They only actually attend classes at the college for like fifteen minutes before they're kicked out), but overall, I thought it was passable, and much better than Cars 2.

#38[]

WINNIE THE POOH[]

I've always loved Winnie the Pooh and the rest of the Hundred Acre Wood, so when we were dragged to this movie for camp I wasn't groaning, and I enjoyed it. The stakes weren't very high, but I mean, it's Winnie the Pooh. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was a good movie.

#37[]

ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE[]

Atlantis is known for being bad, and...I didn't really dislike it! It was a huge box office bomb, mostly because there wasn't any real "cutesy animal thingy to keep the kids interested!", but I think it's a decent, if unremarkable movie.

also this is amazing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0biUUdCTNI

#36[]

PETER PAN[]

One rule of thumb with Disney movies is "don't know the source material too well or you'll hate it". I read the book Peter Pan before watching the movie, which was a bad idea, because holy shit this movie bugged me. Peter Pan is reeeeeeeeeally annoying in the Disney version. Captain Hook is super bumbling. Tinkerbell just randomly tries to kill Wemndy throughout the whole movie, which while hillarious, is EXPLAINED in the book that pixies can only feel one emotion at a time, while in the movie they were just like "well this fairy wants to kjill this pre-pubescent girl lol" I think it's a good movie and it'd probably be higher if I wasn't OCD, but I am, and here it lies.

#35[]

BAMBI[]

Bambi, like most early disney movies, is a plotless mess. It basically consists of "YAY ANIMALS FOREST OH NO YOUR MOM DIED YAY ANIMALS" (seriously, right after Bambi's mom is shot, there's a scene with animals singing it's so terrible) However, Bambi really has that Disney charm that no matter how disjointed and weird it is, you can't hate Bambi, at least I can't.

#34[]

SLEEPING BEAUTY[]

Confession: I've only seen Sleeping Beauty once. However, I liked it a lot! I thought it wasn't as boring as a lot of early disney movies (CINDERELLA), and even though Aurora is kind of a bore, Prince Phillip, the Good Fairies, and MALIFICENT certainly make up for it. Randomly green for no reason mastermind who causes the whole events of the movie just because she didn't get invited to a birthday party <3

#33[]

SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES[]

And the last of the three original "princesS" movies takes the fall! Snow White is amazing, no debating. It was such a milestone for cinema, and just such a masterpiece. However, analyzing it from a plot perspective...it holds up surprisingly well! The story makes sense and things flow well. It's not really that interesting, but it's a lot better than some of the other early disney movies in terms of "this makes sense"

#32[]

LADY AND THE TRAMP[]

One thing I like about Lady and the Tramp is that it's very stylistic for an early disney movie. It's filmed from a dog's perspective, and you rarely see any human faces. Even though the main plot of "good girl meets bad guy and they fall in love!" is insanely overdone, this movie pulls it off without feeling too overdone.

also: the siamese cat villains <3

#31[]

BROTHER BEAR[]

Brother Bear was the last movie in that weird transition period between the Renassaince and the Dark Ages, and it kinda shows. Some parts of it are really good, and some are just...eh. I think it holds up though, and definitely doesn't deserve to be compared to like, Home on the Range.

#30[]

RATATOUILLE[]

Ratatouille is one of Pixar's less popular movies, but I think it's pretty good! Both mains are likable, even though Linguini is mainly static, the side characters are fun, it just works. It's not an amazing movie but it's a good one.

also it's like the FOURTH Disney movie in France, go to Germany or something

#29[]

MONSTERS.INC[]

I was never a really big fan of this movie growing up, but it's grown on me in the past few years. There are good jokes, decent characters, the premise is interesting and fresh, it's a fairly solid movie. It's not outstanding or anything, but it's pretty good.

#28[]

WALL-E[]

Just like Tarzan, I feel like Wall-E is super overrated for a Pixar movie. I think the enviromental message felt really forced in and the ending with the walruses known as humans getting up and restoring Earth feels...unrealistic.

I do like it, unlike Tarzan though. Wall-E is cute, the romance works, and I think it's a good movie, just...not as good as a lot of people say it is.

#27[]

ONE HUNDRED AND ONE DALMATIANS[]

Cruella de Vil, Cruella de Vil, if she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will...

Seriously, Cruella is amazing. She'd definitely make my top 10 disney villains, maybe even top five. She's so OTT and obnoxious, it's great. She makes the movie.

Unfortunately, upon rewatch I find the non-Cruella parts are kind of boring :( It's definitely a good movie and the protagonists aren't bad, they can just be dull sometimes. Overall it's a good movie, and you should definitely watch it just for Cruella.

#26[]

BRAVE[]

Brave invoked fiery hatred from critics once it premeired which...I don't get, really. It wasn't OMGAMAZING like some of the other Pixar movies, but it was better than fucking Cars 2. which didn't get as bad reviews. Overall, I liked it. Merida was fun and interesting, Queen Elinor was good and had a good arc, the witch was lol, and King Fergus was pretty good. The only people I didn't really like were the Triplets, who were super annoying but not in a good way. Thankfully they're barely present, but still.

also: WRECK-IT-RALPH WAS ROBBED OF THE OSCAR

#25[]

UP[]

I had actually intended to cut Up a bit earlier, but there were a few movies that I decided to bump down so it slipped through the cracks to the top 25. I think it's a good movie so I'm not mad, though! All of the characters are decent (well, most: I never liked Kevin) Carl and Russell have good chemistry, it makes sense, it's a solid pixar movie.

#24[]

THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER[]

I suppose I have some explaining to do regarding this one, because I doubt people love The Rescuers Down Under as much as I do, but I really do ^_^. The plot is kinda eh, but the characters MORE than make up for it in my eyes, I love the villain, I love th eleads, I love the setting (australia <3) I just think it's a really good movie.

Also, little-known fact, since it came out after The Little Mermaid, it's technically part of the Renassaince ^_^ which is part of the reason it made it so high lol

#23[]

TOY STORY 2[]

Of all the Toy Stories, I find Toy Story 2 the least remarkable, though that's not to say it's a bad movie. Jesse is a great character and Woody is nicely developed in this one, but as a whole I just find it kind of "meh" compared to the other 2. Then again the other two are godly so it's kind of hard to compare.

#22[]

OLIVER AND COMPANY[]

I tried to drag this movie to top 20, but even I couldn't pull it off. :(

Anyway everyone hates this movie but it's actually amazing. Well, not really, but I love it because I watched it like 21313131313113131 times as a child.

Who can forget lovable characters like Tito?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRPP0k_AGBs

Amazing songs like Streets of Gold?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99RQntQXIwI (this is legitimately the LEAST catchy Disney song ever <3)

The real STAR of thehou movie is not Oliver, but GEORGETTE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M6UYwaYRqw

Basically she's a snobby showdog who hates Oliver and plots to get rid of him <3 goddessgoddessgoddess

#21[]

ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Strangeness <3

I love this movie because it gave disney an excuse to do all the weird shit that had happened in the earlier movies without having to be bogged down by "plot" or whatever other lame excuses there were.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=di7dZwidXZU

this movie is weird as hell <3

The other reason for this movie to come so high is the ICONIC queen who is a total OTTN hag, which is obviously the best kind of villain.

Top 20 who will actually get substantial write-ups yay!

#20/#19[]

THE FOX AND THE HOUND/THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG[]

I couldn't decide ;_;

Both of these are realy good movies and it's hard to cut them but I just find them the weakest of this top 20, although that doesn't mean they're bad movies.

Let's start with the Fox and the Hound!

The Fox and the Hound is a very somber movie for Disney. It's not the darkest Disney movie (that title belongs to The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which is still in), but it's not as happy-go-lucky as most disney movies.

The movie is predictably about...a fox, and a hound. Tod and Copper are best friends growing up, and they want to always be best friends. Unfortunately, hounds hunt foxes, and eventually Tod and Copper are torn apart by society. Copper saves Tod in the end, but by that time they realize though they can always be friends, they'll never be able to be how they were when they were young, making it a very mature message. I could probably give a more indepth summary if I had watched this movie in the past five years but I haven't, so here we are.

Now, The Princess and the Frog!

This was known as Disney's return to TD after the period of Chicken Little-Bolt (VOMIT) so a lot of hardcore Disney fans were hoping it would be good. Thankfully, it was!

The main character is Tiana, the first black Disney princess (represent). She's very ambitious and goal-driven and that can be found throughout the whole movie, especially in the song, ALMOST THERE which is easily the best of the film (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aO0abpVd5UI) She wants to own a resturaunt and works as a waitress to get money. She kind of turns into a grouchy nag when she turns into a frog halfway through the film, but let's ignore that for now.

The other main protagonist is Prince Naveen, who is the exact opposite of Tiana in that he's a lazy bum who was cut off from his parents for spending all their money. He's a very fun and charming protagonist, and I like him a lot.

Some of our other protagonists are Charlotte, Tiana's OTTP childhood friend who loves throwing parties, and Naveen's worthless valet who does nothing and should have really just been cut out of the movie.

There's also Louis and Ray who are protagonists for the swamp portion. The two are relatively low-key, but Ray dies and it's really sad </3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9B04e3OWXA never forget

Another protagonist is MAMA ODIE, who is an OTT Mama Bear figure who delivers the message of the movie like Big Mama, who I forgot to mention in the Fox and the Hound write-up but is great.

Anyway this write-up is too long so let's talk about the villain, Dr.Faciler, who is a smooth-talking voodoo practicioner. I think he's a decent villain, even though he's not really that relevant and has no real connection to Tiana. He also has a great villain song, Friends on the Other Side.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZAY-78zhmw

His death is also fairly horrifying as the voodoo spirits suck him into the mouth of hell.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8agd6ZQrQG4

you know, for kids!

Anyway I'm tired so let's wrap this up, both of these are great movies and they're a perfect way to start off the top 20!

#18[]

THE INCREDIBLES[]

  • is lynched*

I've only seen the Incredibles like twice, but it made an impression enough to land it my top 20!

I'm not gonna recap this because I'm pretty sure most have scene this movie, but basically it's about a family of superheroes. The movie is about their ~arcs~ and the struggles of being superheroes

The family consists of Violet, who's arc is to like..come out of her shell? I dunno, she's easily the least interesting of the family and has the weakest plot.

There's also Dash, the bratty annoying son who's story is about not holding back with his powers. He's good and probably one of my favorite characters in the movie.

There's also Mr and Mrs.Incredible who are pretty great and get development not usually seen in Disney movies.

Other characters include Syndrome, who is a good villain who has good motivation and is threatening, which is rare from Pixar, Edna Mode who is amazing, and Mirage, who people seem to love but I never really liked that much.

Anyway The Incredibles is great and would be higher if everything left wasn't amazing. Still, 18 is pretty good!

#17[]

HERCULES[]

Hercules directly contradicts what it's two previous movies, Pocahontas and Hunchback did in making a mature, very plot-oriented movie in favor of FLASHING LIGHTS EXCITEMENT YAY BRIGHT COLORS WOO. And while this could have been done wrong and some think it was (this movie was was the worst financially of the Renassaince, even worse than The Rescuers Down Under) I think Hercules has enough charm ot pull it off.

The main character is obviously Hercules, and he's my main problem with the movie, because god is he dull. I see a lot of people complaining "all disney protagonists are BORING!" I arrgue with some but it's hard to deny because Hercules' story is SO overdone. He wants to find acceptance, go the distance, he becomes a hero blah blah blah. I will admit his song is pretty good though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EYVepDBAC0

Philafjaijfia[jnefiwa[fwe[anhfawiefhnaw[fiwahenfa is Hercules' mentor, and I think it works. He's a pretty generic character in that his archetype has been done to death, but it works, I guess.

So, I've said two of the main characters are boring. What DO I like about this movie? Well, the animation is great. It's great and flows and looks amazing and super fluid. The songs are all decent, some of the best ones provided by THE MUSES who are a choir of five black women who are amazing, even if they basically are just exposition.

The real saving graces of the movie, though, are Megara and Hades, the love interest and villain. Megara is not into Hercules at first, but falls for him eventually. It takes a while, though, because she kind of has trust issues because one time she sold her soul to the devil to save a boyfriend who immediately ran away. Fun! She also has this amazing song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl0DMTlwLw4

And to the villain, Hades. Hades isn't very ominous like you'd assume the devil would be. He's very fast-talking and comedic, and I think it totally works.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KYbT1lhKho

Anyway Hercules is kind of just there for most Disney fans but I'd give it a second watch because it's actually really good ^_^

#16[]

THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE[]

This movie's plot isn't particularly interesting or engaging really, but what gives it the boost into the top 20 is the characters and humor, because imo, this is EASILY the funniest Disney movies. All four main characters DELIVER hard, and both Kuzco and Pacha and Yzma and Kronk's adventures are engaging and hillarious. Also, Yzma is easily a top 10 disney villain :3

#15[]

LILO AND STITCH[]

Fun fact: I used to obsessively watch the TV series for this show :D

Shocking revelation: I don't really like Stitch that much. I don't think he's a bad character per se, btu I hate how he's a DISNEY LEGEND!!! now and is overexposed and all the follow-up material for this movie shaft Lilo in favor of him and how he gets to make Alien Encounter at Disneyworld much lamer and blah blah rant rant. I just don't...like him that much?

However, the rest of the movie makes up for it. One thing I hate about most of the 2000 era movies is that they don't really focus on a setting like the older ones do, but I think Lilo and Stitch pulls it off perfectly with a depiction of Hawaii that feels just right.

Our main character is Lilo, who's kind of annoying. I like that Lilo is kind of annoying because she seems more like a real child, and even though she can be irritating, you can always root for her, even when she's pouncing on ginger girls with glasses.

However, imo, the real star of the movie is NANI. She's Lilo's sister/caretaker after their parents died, and she's great throughout the movie. It's not often a secondary protagonist gets depth like she does, and I think she makes really good use of it and can be funny and serious when she neds to.

The character interactions in this movie are really good too! Both Lilo/Stitch and Lilo/Nani have really good interactions. Overall I just really like this movie ^_^

#14[]

POCAHONTAS[]

THIS IS SO HARD ;_;

I ADORE POCAHONTAS. Like, it's one of my favorite Disney movies (obviously). Alright, I'll talk about the negatives first so I'm not just gushing.

GOD NAKOMA IS USELESS. Like, literally her only purpose in the movie is to rat Pocahontas out just because "she was worried for her safety" LIKE LET HER KISS ENGLISHMEN IF SHE WANTS YOU DUMB LOSER

Anyway, the animal sidecicks always kind of annoying. I can deal with Meeko, but Flit and Percy seem to exist for no reason.

ANYWAY THOSE ARE ALL THE PROBLEMS I HAVE WITH THIS MOVIE TIME TO GUSH ENDLESSLY!

The animation is GOREGEOUS. I like how different the designs are from the last movie with human characters (Aladdin) because it works very well here. Some of the scenes are just beautiful, like Colors of the Wind.

Speaking of which, THE SONGS. I love most of them. Steady as the Beating Drum is a great opening song. Colors of the Wind is obviously amazing, Savages is a great different take on a villain song, although my personal favorite is JUST AROUND THE RIVERBEND.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DE5a80I8EU

The characters are also good. Ratcliffe is not a very good topic when talking about villains to most but I like him just because he's such a greedy asshole. His sidecick, Wiggins, is lol too. A talking tree named Grandmother Willow has SO much potential to be terrible but it works well. Chief Powahatan and Kocoum both work well for their parts in the story. John Smith is actually kind of sarcastic and not boring, and the titular character is great and fun.

Anyway that endless praise was Pocahontas! I disagree that it's boring like some say and think you should watch it you haven't.

p.s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZ6rJ-ra8zg

#13[]

FROZEN[]

GOD THIS MOVIE IS OVERRATED TO ALL HELL. I love it (it's number 13) but I do not think it's the best disne y movie, or even close. I'm going to start with what I dislike about this movie.

First, a plot summary.

-Elsa has powers, she hits Anna with ice in the head by accident, the trolls remove all memory of Elsa's powers

-SONG

-Elsa shuts Anna out, their parents die

-The gates to the castle are opened

-SONG

-Anna meets Hans, Hans proposes

-SONG

Anna asks for Elsa's blessing, Elsa says no, Anna gets mad, Elsa freezes everything

-Elsa runs away

-Anna persues

-Elsa lets it go

-SONG

-Anna meets Kristoff and Kristoff begrudgingly takes her up the mountain

-Anna and Kristoff meet Olaf

-SONG

-Anna asks Elsa to come back, Elsa says no, Anna asks Elsa to stop the winter, Elsa says she doesn't know how and accidentall strikes Anna in the heart with ice which starts slowly killing her

-SONG (REPRISE)

-Anna and Kristoff go to the trolls and try to help Anna but the only thing that can save her is true love

-SONG

-Hans captures Elsa

-Anna asks for Hans' kiss, he says no and is EVIL ALL ALONG!

-Hans tries to kill Elsa, Anna goes to kiss Kristoff for true love

-Anna saves Elsa instead of Kristoff

-Elsa melts everything

-Hans is sent to jail

-We all live happily ever after

As you can see, this movie tries to do waaaay too much. I like that it's ambitious, but...it's just trying too hard. On top of that, the plot kind of becomes a mess towards the end, and post-Fixer Upper everything is super packed.

However, I do love a lot of things about this movie! The animation is gorgeous, I usually think CG is tacky but it works great here. The songs are great. Do You Want To Build A Snowman is very tragic yet still nice, For The First Time in Forever works great with Anna's character. Fixer Upper is kind of shoehorned in but it's catchy, Love Is An Open Door is fun, and Let It Go is okay I guess. (jkiloveitoneofmyfavoritedisneysongsever)

I really like the characters. Elsa is great and complex (even though she turns into more of a plot device post-anna coming to the castle), Anna is fun and dorky, Kristoff is a great male protagonist, Olaf is surprisingly not annoying despite being comic relief, and Hans is a good villain.

Overall, I do think Frozen was very ambitious for a Disney movie, and for the most part in worked out great. It continued Disney's great streak and I hope it'll inspire a lot more great movies. (This writeup was more enthusiastic, but I lost it once and it's 2:45 am)
