I used my word processing software to do a couple of word counts, and discovered that my correspondence accounts for nearly half (45%) of your new archive. We haven't really had much direct contact in the last couple of months, but I pretty much monopolized your talk page in March and April, talking about things like writing style, LAL, and TDI-G&S.

Speaking of which, have you been reading TDI-G&S? You expressed a great deal of interest before it launched, and you were pretty effusive in your opinion of the G&S playlist I put together for LAL. I sent my edit list. :) Hopefully it's clear, and you can find the errors I picked out easily, as it was harder to describe where they were without those black bar thingies where scenes change. SprinklemistCyan is the new green. 00:10, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

As matters stand now, I think I'll have two Chapter 16 references for the LAL-G&S playlist. Not the original two, though--one of the possibilities I originally envisioned crashed and burned when I discovered that the verse was already on the playlist for an earlier scene. Curiously, one of my currently planned additions fits an incidental point--Wilshire's defense of his decision to run off with Rose. That was just one or two lines in the story, but the playlist item is 24 lines of verse. (That happened a lot when I was compiling TDI-G&S.) On a related note, do you mind if I advertise (i.e. link to) the playlist from LAL's talk page? It is, after all, directly related to the story. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! I rather thought you'd be pleased, but sometimes it's best to do these things by the book. Believe me, I know--perhaps better than anyone else here--the travails of editing very large pages. TDI-G&S had become so large (currently almost 25 percent larger than anything else on the wiki, and more than 3 times larger than LAL) that editing the top level is a nightmare. Fortunately, all the headings are already in place, so I can usually edit sections; but if I need to edit the top level for any reason, processing even a minor edit can take 20 minutes or more, assuming the process doesn't simply crash. When I saw this article, I thought of your little (er, big) fanfic, as it reminded me of the backstory you gave for the Organization's founder, so I thought you might be interested. (Yes, the wiki is taking over my life. In like vein, I can't even see the word "ravioli" without thinking of Sunshine.) By the bye, did you know that I am likely to pass your edit count in the near future? Never thought I'd see the day, given that you had something like 1200 edits when I joined back in February. Given the narrow scope of my original plans here, I never dreamed that I would be averaging 200+ edits a month. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! A wandering minstrel, I-- 20:53, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

Although my TDI-G&S support work accounts for a big chunk of my edit count, the real reason I've risen to a Top 20 ranking is that I wound up being far more active on things like talk pages and blog discussions than I originally expected to be.

Speaking of wiki activity, we were discussing music a while back, and you mentioned that you like instrumentals. On that note (pun not intended, but I'll take it), have you been reading my Courtney story? I built two chapters of that story around certain classical pieces, an old author's adage being, "write about what you know", and included links to YouTube videos of the pieces in question. So, if you haven't been reading the story, there's added incentive. As I have noted elsewhere, I know the Tchaikovsky piece particularly well, having performed it both in high school (where it was considered "B team" material--the program was that good) and in college. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! A wandering minstrel, I-- 22:29, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

This seemed a little too self-promoting for your blog discussion, so I'll say it here. Since you've decided to start giving your Seal to anything you like, and not just LAL-related stuff, don't forget one for Legacy. (You've never commented on the story's talk page, although you've commented elsewhere.) I mention it specifically because it was written several months ago, and so might not have come to mind unbidden when you are handing out Seals. Besides, LAL might end up owing something to my story, albeit indirectly. As we discussed before, Legacy may well be the standard-setter for how much violience is acceptable in a PG-13 story. Hello, again! I'm almost done revising and finishing that story for you, but I just wanted to talk about LAL for a moment. First off, Ch. 17 was awesome, like the rest of the story; especially that cliffhanger ending. We don't know if she shot Noah or her boss. Anyway, in Ch. 4, with that "Now, when I start, you have to scream, and you have to scream <emloudly</em>" quote, what was the <emloudly</em> standing for? I never really heard of it. He ate my heart, he a-a-ate my heart. All the single ladies! (All the single ladies!) You make me feel like I'm livin' a teenage dream! *Crystal continues mindlessly playing music and dances randomly in her room* 21:47, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

Ello! I've finally finished the story I mentioned to you about a little while ago. The story title? /*cue drumroll/* Auroral Nights! I hope you find it enjoyable; it sorta has this dark plot and epic emotion like Life After Lies does, except yours is extremely better written. Even though I do not ask for any review or critique because I will soon eventually post a blog giving myself a self-critique about what I think of my story, you can leave something in the disscussion page about what you thought about the story. PS, I nominated this story for FS, so I hope you read it and understand why. Thanks! He ate my heart, he a-a-ate my heart. All the single ladies! (All the single ladies!) I wonder if you are reading Auroral Nights right now. Skipping that topic, I do have an edit suggestion for Chapter 4 in LAL. The chapter should be called Leniency instead of Rancid like Chapter 3. Just thought I'd say that. He ate my heart, he a-a-ate my heart. All the single ladies! (All the single ladies!) You make me feel like I'm livin' a teenage dream! *Crystal continues mindlessly playing music and dances randomly in her room* 17:10, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

Well, I'm glad that you liked it. It may be well written, but like I said, it doesn't compare to Life After Lies. And yes, I understand that the ending was sad (I hope I didn't make you cry.), but remember the epilogue with the ending word, Someday? Well, that someday will come by pretty soon because I am planning on writting a sequel called Secrets and, well, who knows? I don't want to spoil anything, but there is a possibility about someone revealed to be alive... /*wink wink/* I was originally planning on writting two sequels, but the second sequel, to me, sounded too much like horror drama rather than crime drama. So I'll just stick with writting one sequel. Anyway, like I said, I'll be posting a blog soon about me self-reviewing my story and I'll eventually post the first chapter.

I'm also soon hoping to ask Sunshine to read Auroral Nights and draw the scene where Alejandro is holding a lifeless Bridgette in his arms and, of course, sobbing. The reason why is because I saw those 2 drawings she made for you and I hope for her to do the same for me one day. Well, that's all I have to say about AN.

One last thing I want to ask, can you please put me on your friends list since your on mine? Thanks!

I mentioned on the LAL talk page that my patterning LTDI after The 1,001 Nights will manifest in several ways, and I thought you might like to know some of these. In addition to the cliffhanger aspect, using 1001N as a model is my reason for using a frame story with a storyteller and a listener. Indeed, through most of the story, the interaction between Brett and his mother will somewhat parallel the interaction between King Sharyar and his wife Shahrazad in 1001N. Another influence is that, although 1001N is a prose story, some of its component tales have a fair amount of poetry in them. LTDI will therefore incorporate several (mostly famous) poems in various places where they fit the narrative, and one of these poems will actually have a challenge built around it.

On a related note, you have seen that my stories tend to incorporate references to various literary and/or historical sources. TDI-G&S, of course, is all about that, but such references also appear in both of my short stories. Well, LTDI is going to be chock full of such references, not least of which are the poems I mentioned.

Speaking of my short stories, have you ever had a chance to read Violin of Despair or my Izzy story? The latter, being part of the Fake Souls anthology, is essentially a one-shot; and it's very unusual in that it depicts Izzy as a tragic character, even a pitiable one. (An Izzy fan who read it told me that she cried her eyes out.) Violin of Despair is also a quick read, as none of the chapters are more than two pages long and the whole story is only about 11 pages equivalent (i.e. ~5,000 words, or about half the length of Legacy). Hey, Gigi! Umm, sorry I couldn't really talk to you much, but I was working on one of my stories called Ultimate, and it's a sequel to Auroral Nights. Anyways, I also wrote my blog post on that self-review. Anyways, how's LAL doing for you? " You're 30% arrogant, 30% ignorant, and 40% idiot!" " Yep, she soo has a crush on me." Well, actually, I found this pic online and it was this fangirl kissing Noah (much to his surprise) and I thought it was blinkin' adorable! XD I saved the pic onto my laptop and since I wanted something other than a smiling star cookie, I thought that I could try this pic. Anyways, I hope you like the first 2 chapters of Ultimate; it picks right back up after the epilogue. Feel free to leave a comment on the disscussion page. Also, how do I get the word out about Ultimate? I want more people to check it out. " You're 30% arrogant, 30% ignorant, and 40% idiot!" " Yep, she soo has a crush on me." Yes, I figured you would feel worse for Izzy, since my Izzy story was designed to be something of a tearjerker. I have an idea for a companion piece (working title: "One Of Our Agents Is Missing") which I might flesh out and post one of these days. As for LTDI's references to other things, those references will include modern, pop culture-type stuff as well as the giants of old. There will be a number of Star Trek references, for example. (It bears mention that ST also made many such references, most notably to Shakespeare.) Indeed, you may recall that my first LTDI preview scene, which I posted as part of my 1,000th Edit special, had a ST reference, i.e. the TDI interns dressing like Capt. Kirk's security personnel because they have similar life expectancies. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! A wandering minstrel, I-- 22:57, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

I honestly LOVE Toy Story, especially Toy Story 3. So sad! Anyways, the reason I asked is because, well on Christmas Day, I'll do this Christmas blog post with shout-outs to most people on here (i.e. you! :D) and I'll be putting up this link to a fanfiction that I'm writting about TS and it takes place a year after TS3. Thanks! The story's called Alive not just because lives will be on the line, but because I was listening to this song called Time of Dying by Three Days Grace, and in the lyric, I will not die, I'll wait here for you/I feel alive when you're beside me I just instantly thought of a good story idea. Would you like me to tell you the premise? " You're 30% arrogant, 30% ignorant, and 40% idiot!" " Yep, she soo has a crush on me." Nickelodeon has the best lines. XD 16:48, December 13, 2010 (UTC)

A tidbit that might interest you

In case you haven't been following TDI-G&S, I've added a tidbit that immediately made me think of you, in light of your status as a self-described Disney nerd. I found a video for the TDI-G&S theme song. The visual is a montage of stills from various animated Disney features, so the video is billed (somewhat misleadingly) as "The Disney Princesses sing Gilbert and Sullivan". Let me know what you think. On a related note, you may have noticed that I have started posting videos for the LAL-G&S playlist. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! Hey Gigi, can you help me decide a title for my new story? It's almost done and I can send you a copy through DocX on ff.net. I would've gone to my normal title person, but that would be Emmy, who is long gone from the wiki. The LAL-G&S playlist has only two videos so far, and one of those is a converted audio recording. Formatting headaches

I was on Crystal's talk page and I saw that you complained (not for the first time) about formatting problems with LAL. If I may ask, what sort of problems have you been having? If it's something that I've encountered, maybe I can help. On a related note, my LAL-G&S playlist has recently developed a serious formatting problem, seemingly spontaneously. Specifically, the <poem></poem> markup isn't working anymore, so most of the verses are now Walls of Text. (Indented verses don't seem to have this problem, and I'm not sure they need the poem markup at all.) I don't know what the problem is, but it may have to do with the fact that blog pages don't support of of the formatting options that article pages do. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! I've read the chapter and pasted it into a Word file, but I haven't had a chance to prepare my critique yet. I should be able to do that this weekend. In terms of spelling and grammar, your chapter is actually pretty clean. (One error I noticed was "hem" instead of "them", so a spell checker wouldn't have picked that up.)

My critique will be confined to technical points, because the story's talk page is a more fitting place to give my thoughts on the story's events. (Praise publicly, criticize privately.) I have a couple of technical points that you may wish to incorporate. I think you could add them fairly easily, because they don't change the essential character of the relevant scenes. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! A wandering minstrel, I-- 17:11, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

Reading Chapter 18, it turns out that I will have quite a few suggestions to make. Most won't be corrections, per se, but rather suggestions for improving word choices or phrasing. Note that I am taking pains to suggest changes that I think will improve the narrative without altering the essential character of your writing style. After all, LAL is your story, not mine.

I won't actually make these changes myself, for a couple of reasons. First, a lot of these suggestions will be matters of opinion as much as anything, and there is every possiblity that you might choose to incorporate some but not others. Second, you'll learn more effectively if you approve and make any changes yourself than if I spoonfeed them to you. (This, incidentally, is how I work with Spenny on his Pokemon story.) Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! A wandering minstrel, I-- 05:35, February 13, 2011 (UTC)

I have now started in earnest with my chapter 18 commentary. I have more to say about the first part of the chapter than about the latter part, so please don't be alarmed or discouraged at the way I pick apart some of the first few paragraphs. My purpose is to not merely review, but also to teach (since you seem more than willing to learn) so most of my suggested changes will come with fairly detailed explanations as to why I think the changes will improve your story. Oh, well, the reason why I asked is because I'm planning on writing not one, barely two, but three Carrie fics -- the first one about a modern-day girl who is related to Carrie and inherits her telekinesis, the second this extended version of the infamous prom scene, and the third this crossover with a fanfic a friend wrote. I don't even know how to begin talking about this chapter. Is this the last chapter? Is there an epilogue or more danger for Heather and Noah? I have no clue. But I will say this: not only was this the best chapter of Life After Lies, but in the year I've been on this wiki, and in all the stories I read here and in camps related to this wiki, I have never seen anything of this quality. Gigi, Chapter 18 of Life After Lies was the single best entry of any story I have read on this wiki, ever. No other author or story even comes close to the awesome intensity of Life After Lies. Congratulations. -DJ Spenstar! 21:38, March 26, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Gigi! Remember when I said I'd let you know when I'd finish one of my Carrie fics. Well, today, I'm finishing the one-shot I mentioned, and the plot is really my take on the infamous prom scene. Y'know, the scene where they pulled that terrible prank on Carrie and her telekinesis took over? Well, care for a tidbit? Barbie... eat your heart out.♥ 21:25, March 28, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, here I go! Wait, I almost forgot. Before I continue, be warned that the followed may be slightly disturbing since, well, this is Carrie we're talking about here. Well, the paragraph is talking about the terror that's beginning after the pig blood was dumped on Carrie and her killing the first two people at the prom (Tina, who was screaming like a maniac and Kenny, who got his arm stuck in the closed door after trying to get out). Now, here I go!

The minute the light was casted upon her was terrifying in every right. Her eyes widened, that gaze averted from the quivering students to the pool of blood that vanished. Everything vanished from Carrie’s mind; all except the lowlifes she’s known since first grade, about to be killed. Even though it was never real, she felt as if she was a female Satan. She felt like her hair billowed and swayed in ominous slow-motion. She felt like the holy fires of Hell swept over her blood, casting her skin into an ever redder flush than the light or blood could provide. The black voids in her eyes widened as her power increased, casting away the innocent, yet pained green glow in her eyes. Her lips never parted, not even to breath. The terror that she was beginning to inflict upon everyone gave her enough life, she didn’t need to breath. She didn’t even need to do anything except let Karma laugh its last before she could ever attempt to. Eventually, the forceful weight she put upon the squirming and screaming students and teachers wore off as she begun to notice Kenny fading. His hand tried to grasp the handle of the door, but the only thing that was in his hand was emptiness. Blood fell in thin streams down the boring beige paint of the doors, and without looking, even he knew that. One of them, Tina Blake, ran to help him first. Carrie set her sight on her, one of the girls who mocked her in the locker room. Then, a vision came into her head: Tina, lying lifeless on the floor as the basketball board hid her body from the rest of the world. Happily, she took that into consideration. While Tina was busy screaming like the smart-mouthed spaz she was, something easily knocked her down. The basketball board swished back and forth, making the sequins on her silver dress shiver as she did. Carrie didn’t hold her down as she ran away; she’d catch her. Like a crack of lightning, the rusted red bolts came off, the board spinning in mid-air like a dog’s Frisbee. Tina ran as fast as she could, trying to avoid her deserved death along with the others, but alas, due to the fact that she’s a complete klutz on heels, she tripped over a nearby table. Her scream echoed as the board pierced her nearly-exposed back, thus silencing it. Kenny looked back and screamed, seeing his best friend drowning in her own bloody pride and self-assurance, but for his—and her—benefit, Carrie silenced him by giving his arm one last twist. The body part fell to the pavement in a thud loud enough to hear it in a ten-mile radius. The last thing he could to was fall to the ground as blood spewed out in a sickening sound, allowing the claws of his sin to drag him down, down into his rightful place.

Well, whaddaya think? Barbie... eat your heart out.♥ 21:40, March 28, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I know, I'm very descriptive. I just hope that I didn't scare you away from the idea of reading this one-shot once I finish. There are times when I write stories that I use walls of text when it's that sinister (i.e. that Tangled fanfiction you read). Still, glad you liked it. Since Jkl's LAL parody seems to have left you with a high opinion of his writing skills, you might want to check out his TDI remake. Although it gets off to a slow start (the first two chapters are too close to the canon version for my taste) and some of his phrasing is a little odd because English isn't his first language (he's Brazilian, so his first language is presumably Portugese) I've been enjoying his story. I think it's one of the wiki's better TDI remakes, and I'm sure he'd love to get feedback from someone besides me. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! The theme for the current Featured Quote cycle is "dark & spooky" (for Halloween, naturally) so I nominated a passage from LAL's most iconic scene--the first torture scene, where Heather carves Noah's face. You're allowed to vote for it, even though it's from your own story, because you didn't nominate it. (I got appointed to oversee the FQ ballot, and one of the rules I retained from FQ's first run last year is that people can--indeed, are encouraged to--nominate passages from other people's stories.) Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! A wandering minstrel, I-- 05:41, October 18, 2011 (UTC)

There's certainly no need to apologize for supporting somebody else's quote--and you may have noticed that I nominated Spenny's quote, too. In fact, had it remained a 3-way tie, I was going to break the tie by voting for the TD Infinity quote, since was already supporting the other two and hadn't supported that one yet. I nominated the quotes from LAL and TD Infinity (and Legacy, for that matter) because I didn't think a dark-themed FQ ballot would be complete without those three stories being represented. (It's curious, though, that the Legacy quote got relatively little support. Maybe it's because I'd already nominated quotes from two of my lesser-known stories, mainly to publicize them.)

On an unrelated note, if your schedule and your health are up to it, I posted a new LTDI chapter on Saturday. It now has two chapters up, plus the prologue, and there are still spots open in both the winner guessing and the paternity guessing. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! The nomination process was rather hit-or-miss, but LAL has three nominations: "Best Noncompetition Story", Heather for "Best Portrayal of a Canon Character in a Noncompetition Story", and Noah for the same. On a peripherally related note, the Featured Quote theme this cycle is "Finished Stories", and I nominated LAL's closing passage. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O! A wandering minstrel, I-- 03:44, March 23, 2012 (UTC)

Gigi, LAL needs your vote! On the final night of voting, the LAL passage I put up for FQ trails by one vote. LAL has never has a Quote featured, and for my money it's long overdue. Of course, if you read the nominees and decide that you want to support the other frontrunner like you did last time, that's certainly your prerogative.

LAL won one Wiki Award--Best Noncompetition Story--out of the two categories in which it had nominations. LTDI did very well, with 5 wins in 8 nominated categories, albeit lesser categories. LTDI won for Best Reimagining, Best Spelling/Grammar, Best Portrayal of a Canon Character in a Competition Story (for Sadie), Best Dramatic Scene, and Best Shocking Elimination. The big prize (Best In-progress Story) eluded me, but the winner is eminently worthy and is much further along than the other nominees. Gideoncrawle I have a song to sing, O! Sing me your song, O!
